Topic Background:
According to the American Dental Association (ADA), “if a dental practice is a covered entity, the practice will need to take steps to comply, starting with the appointments of a HIPAA Privacy Official and a HIPAA Security Official.” Understanding HIPAA compliance requirements is critical for any dental practice regardless of size. Being in compliance with HIPAA involves not only ensuring you provide the appropriate patient rights and controls on your uses and disclosures of protected health information, but you also have the proper policies and procedures in place.
