- This method, based on the work of Hirt, King, and Schmitt (1) , is used for the detection and estimation of melamine resin in many papers.
- When using the micro method, the data obtained in the qualitative procedure may be used in the calculation.
- The procedure for both methods is carried out by refluxing the paper with 0.1 N hydrochloric acid to extract the melamine resin, which is then hydrolyzed to melamine.
