Product safety is a vital function of any organization that manufacturers, or sells components, sub-assemblies, or systems. Some organizations have product safety programs that are comprehensive, whereas other organizations have product safety programs that are superficial at best.
This seminar on product safety provides an overview of the topic, examines how product safety can fit into a stage gate new product development process, and provides recommendations and examples on how to make product safety become an integral part of the new product development process. Finally, the seminar discusses how product safety can become an asset for the organization, not only in case of litigation, but also as a method to improve the products developed by the organization and the position of the organization in the marketplace.

Bryan Cole, NCE is the President/Owner of Technology Research Council and an Adjunct Professor at Lackawanna College. Bryan has 20 years experience in the design, development and application of power quality equipment, aviation instrumentation, and various low-voltage distribution equipment. He is a member of a number of IEEE societies and working groups, a member of UL Standard Technical Panels 67, 497, 1363, and 1449, member of the US National Committee to the IEC, and has assisted in the development and balloted more than 30 standards related to Electrical Power Systems and Power Systems Equipment. Bryan is a NARTE Certified Engineer in product safety, has a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Binghamton University, a MBA from the University of Phoenix, and is a PhD student at Northcentral University.
Bryan brings together corporate and product management experience with the details of ensuring that a product meets the product safety goals of the organization. He has an in-depth knowledge of managing new product development programs for use in industrial, commercial, and telecommunication applications.
