ISO 22000:2005

ISO 22000:2005 specifies requirements for a food safety management system. The requirements of an organization entails that the food chain must demonstrate its ability to identify and control food safety hazards so as to ensure safety of food at the time of human consumption. 
 
This standard is applicable organizations of any size (large or small), which are involved in any phase of the food chain and want to establish systems that always provide safe products. 
 
Requirements of ISO 22000:2005 
 
ISO 22000:2005 specifies requirements to enable an organization to do the following:
<ul>
 <li style="text-align: justify;">plan, implement, operate, maintain, and update a food safety management system that aims to provide products safe products to consumers</li>
 <li style="text-align: justify;">demonstrate compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory food safety requirements</li>
 <li style="text-align: justify;">evaluate, assess and demonstrate compliance with the customers’ requirements with regards to safety of food, with the purpose of enhancing customer satisfaction</li>
 <li style="text-align: justify;">communicate food safety issues efficiently to their customers, suppliers and other related interested parties in the food chain</li>
 <li style="text-align: justify;">ensure conformity of the organization to its stated food safety policy</li>
 <li style="text-align: justify;">demonstrate such conformity to relevant interested parties</li>
 <li style="text-align: justify;">To seek certification or registration of its food safety management system by an external organization, or make a self-assessment or self-declaration of conformity to ISO 22000:2005</li>
