As part of the Customs Modernization Act of 1993, the North American Free Trade Agreement was signed into law. NAFTA provides imports and exporters with a wealth of opportunity to trade freely with our neighboring nations of Canada and Mexico. Benefits of NAFTA include either duty free or reduced duty rates between the 3 nations, making the North American Free Trade area more competitive and less costly. However, the rules of engagement for NAFTA are severely complex. Those companies competing in this area must know and abide by the rules. This module is designed for middle and upper management to help them understand these complex rules to avoid costly fines and penalties and delays in moving their products within North America.
